An Eco-Resin surface is created by mixing a high quality, clear, UV Stable polyurethane resin with a blend of natural aggregates which is then trowelled down onto a suitable surface and offers a high friction finish suitable for external surfaces. Our Eco-Resin system is also great choice for both historic and traditional looking properties.

What is a Resin Bound Surface? 

Perfect for both domestic and commercial projects, We only  use BoundWorx® Resin Bound system as it’s been formulated to the highest standard. A BoundWorx® surface is created by mixing a high quality, clear, UV Stable polyurethane resin with a blend of natural aggregates which is then trowelled down onto a suitable surface. by our qualified installers. 

Resin Bound Preparation 

Resin Bound system should be laid onto a structurally sound and secure base, typically of either open graded tarmac, Eco grid system, Mesh system and  concrete which has been laid to falls with appropriate drainage. To prevent possible cracking or sinking in the resin layer there should be no movement in the sub-base. 

A solid edging detail must be in place for the resin to be laid up to, Known as a hard edge. Typical edging details are Granite Setts or edging stones. We can also create bespoke designs using aluminium metal edging strips. 

Resin Bound Application 

The resin and hardener are mixed together using a 110V drill and paddle mixer. This is then mixed with the chosen aggregate blend, including the necessary fines and sand, in a specialised large Forced Action Mixer.  The materials are then emptied into a wheel barrow and trowelled down flat onto the prepared surface by one of our qualified installers. 

The sand that is included in the mix increases the structural strength of the resin surface and also provides anti-slip properties. Where extra grip is required, a light layer of glass grit can be sprinkled on top of the surface before the resin has cured.

When laid to the correct specifications, the structural strength of the Eco-Resin system means that it should last well in excess of 10 years. All of our aggregate blends include suitable fines and clear quartz sand to improve structural strength and maintain grip.

UV Stable

UV Stability is vital. In order to retain the colour of the chosen Eco-Resin finish, the system has been formulated to ensure that it is fully UV Stable. Non or partial UV Stable alternatives will discolour within weeks of being installed, creating a yellowing and patchy effect where there are shaded areas.

Low Maintenance

Eco-Resin is extremely low maintenance. Rain water will keep it generally clean and a light pressure wash will remove any build up of algae or dirt contamination.

Permeable and Eco Friendly

Eco-Resin is a permeable, SuDS compliant system when laid over a permable substrate. This often eliminates the need to obtain planning permission and that it is an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional surfacing solutions.
